Hey seoul crushers!
Today, we’re diving into the infamous Lee Byung Hun blackmail case involving the K-pop group GLAM.
Remember GLAM? That girl group from Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE) that kinda disappeared? Well, let me fill you in on what went down with Dahee, one of their members and her involvement in the Lee Byung Hun blackmail case.
So, Dahee got herself into some serious hot water. She was found guilty of blackmail and ended up doing time in jail. Yikes! This whole mess basically led to GLAM breaking up in 2014. Turns out, Dahee and another woman were trying to extort money from actor Lee Byung Hun. Not cool, right?
In 2015, after Dahee got slapped with a one-year prison sentence (plus two years probation), Big Hit and Source Music were like, “Yeah, we’re done here,” and announced GLAM’s contract was over. The Lee Byung Hun blackmail case had a significant impact on the group’s future.
But get this – after all that drama, Dahee decided to try her hand at streaming. She popped up on AfreecaTV in May 2018 under the name Kim Si Won. She even dropped a solo album in May 2019. Talk about a comeback!
Fast forward to January 2024, and Dahee’s like, “I’m out!” She wrote this heartfelt letter saying she’s quitting the streaming gig. These days, she’s all over Fantrie (it’s kinda like Patreon or OnlyFans), Instagram, and TikTok.
In her letter, Dahee wrote: “Hello, this is Kim Si Won…
…The reason I’m reaching out is that I’ll soon be marking six years since I started streaming. In fact, I was planning to have my 6th anniversary broadcast on May 1, which would also be my last. I’ve shown a lot of my struggles along the way, so I think some of you might have anticipated this.
Still, I wanted to keep going until I felt I had done my best and until I had no regrets about myself. Saying this is my last broadcast feels strange, and I think it’s absurd to make an official ending, but here we are…
With everything that has happened, including the Lee Byung Hun blackmail case fallout, I feel like so much has piled up at once, and I’ve grown quite tired…
…Everyone, I believe this will be my last letter and announcement. Some may read this and feel regret, others may be angry, some might be sad, and some could feel relieved. I just want to convey my gratitude to everyone and wish to leave now. I won’t be coming back…”
Oh, and get this – one of Dahee’s recent posts shows her rocking an under-boob bikini look while on vacay in Vietnam with her fam. Pretty wild, huh? The scandal doesn’t seem to have dented her confidence.
Her TikTok’s a bit tamer than her Insta, though. She posted a video of her “office” on September 11, 2024 (KST), but it’s anyone’s guess what that space is actually for. Quite mysterious, given her past blackmail case with Lee Byung Hun GLAM member Dahee.
