K-Pop’s Biggest Scandal

Hey Seoul Crushers!

Let’s chat about HYBE and this whole NewJeans situation. It’s kinda wild, right? So, here’s the deal:

HYBE’s got this multi-label thing going on. It’s like they’re the big boss, and they’ve got all these smaller agencies under their umbrella. You know, like BIGHIT MUSIC, ADOR, Pledis Entertainment, and a bunch more. They all do their own thing when it comes to making music and promoting their artists.

But get this – HYBE just dropped this bombshell about centralizing some system, and fans of NewJeans are not happy. Like, at all.

So, on September 23, all the HYBE artists’ social media accounts shared this announcement on Weverse. It was basically saying they’re setting up this new portal where people can report “violation of artists’ rights.”

Now, a lot of fan groups were like, “Cool, maybe this’ll help keep our faves safe.” But when the same post showed up on ADOR’s X account for NewJeans? Oh boy, people lost it.

The post was exactly the same – talking about this new platform, how it’s different from before, and how HYBE plans to use it. But fans weren’t having it.

They started hitting back at HYBE, especially because of all this drama going on with HYBE and the former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. It’s gotten so messy that even the NewJeans members got dragged into it.

The strife between K-pop powerhouse HYBE and its subsidiary Ador’s CEO Min Hee-jin, who is known as NewJeans’ producer, is even more heightened as HYBE replaces Min with Kim Ju-young, its former chief human resource officer (CHRO), as Ador’s new head.

People are saying, “How can the company that’s been “trying to ruin their reputation” suddenly be in charge of “protecting” NewJeans?” It’s like, talk about a plot twist, right?

So yeah, that’s the thing. It’s a whole mess, and fans are not letting HYBE off easy on this one. What do you think about all this drama?
