Hey seoul crushers!
So, there’s this new K-drama called “Love Next Door” (or “Mom’s Friend’s Son” if you wanna get fancy). It’s about these two childhood frenemies who grow up and end up living next door to each other as adults. Sounds cute, right? It stars Jung Hae In and Jung So Min, who are both pretty big deals in the K-drama world.
Anyway, people have some mixed feelings about this show. Some folks are totally digging it, while others are calling out some pretty cringe-worthy moments. There was this one scene that really ticked off some female viewers, but let’s focus on the latest drama.
Apparently, there’s this super cheesy dialogue that’s got everyone talking. It goes like this:
Seung Hyo: “I don’t think we should stay here.”
Seok Ryu: “Why not?”
Seung Hyo: “I’m having bad thoughts.”
Seok Ryu: “What bad thoughts?”
Seung Hyo: “Thoughts I shouldn’t be thinking. Cheap and crude thoughts. Unhealthy thoughts.”
Seok Ryu: “I used to like unhealthy junk food. Powdered candy, taffy, and dalgona.”
Seung Hyo: “Crunch balls, corn nuts, and slushies.”
Seok Ryu: “Yeah. So go ahead. Think bad thoughts.”
Seung Hyo: “What about bad deeds?”
Seok Ryu: “You can do those, too.”
People are saying this sounds straight out of the early 2000s. It’s like they took a time machine and brought back some old-school dialogue. Some fans are pointing out that calling physical contact “cheap” and “low-class” is kinda outdated.
Others are scratching their heads because the characters are in their 30s, but they’re acting like they’re way younger. One fan said, “I mean, if the leads were college students or in their early 20s, maybe I’d get it… but they’re both in their 30s, and the female lead even had a guy she considered marrying, so why are they like this? Lol.”
Despite all this, people are still loving the chemistry between the actors. So, it seems like “Love Next Door” is becoming one of those guilty pleasure shows – you know, the kind you watch while face-palming half the time.
